Interactive & Informative Workshop – 6 Spaces Available – £tbc

Menopause has its challenges. They can be physical, mental, or spiritual or a combination of all three. But it can also be a time of positivity, of renewed energy & a new you.

In this workshop, explore how a holistic approach to wellbeing, a growth mindset & being a good kind of self-ish, can make perimenopause a positive & self-nourishing experience that encourages you to make the most of the years ahead.

We’ll start with understanding what perimenopause is and its 34 symptoms before looking at how the more common symptoms can be managed and positively impacted by our lifestyle choices, whether you have opted to take HRT, are considering doing so or have decided it’s not the route for you.

Next, you’ll have the opportunity to create your own wellbeing plan.

Now you are clear about what’s important to you and what the choices you are making to support yourself through the change, you will explore how you can ensure they happen – we’ll take a look at the importance of, and how you can become more skilled at, maintaining boundaries, self-love and your ability to put yourself first in a way that not only nourishes you, but positively impacts those around you.

You’ll leave this workshop feeling more energised, empowered, and positive about your life during perimenopause and beyond.

Our workshops/retreats take place in a tranquil and beautiful lunar bell tent, perfectly pitched for the summer in Lynda’s own garden; a space that also offers a seat with Buddha where you can connect more deeply with yourself, social spaces to connect with others and pockets of peacefulness where you can take time whenever it is needed.

Spending time in nature can generate many positive emotions, such as calmness, joy, and creativity and can facilitate concentration … the perfect environment for self-discovery, reflection, a-ha! moments and connecting with others.

Our uniquely designed space also offers a sense of freedom – a place to breathe. It’s something a little out of the ordinary and fun – a place to be playful, to get creative, and to be inspired.

What is The Midlife SLICE?

The Midlife Slice is a series of small, in-person, group workshops and boutique day retreats created and led by Midlife Transition Coach, Lynda Brown.

Designed specifically to support women in midlife, each workshop/retreat offers a unique, and experiential coaching experience that focuses on self-discovery and personal growth. In addition, the group experience enables everyone to benefit from the varied perspectives, life experience and collective wisdom of each other.

The Midlife Slice also organises Impromptu Gatherings, such as beach journaling meet-ups and sea dips, mindfulness walks, beach cleans and movie nights with a midlife twist.

  • Have you have found yourself, perhaps unexpectedly, unravelling or in overwhelm?
  • Are you seemingly lacking the courage or confidence you once had?
  • Do you feel rudderless and without direction?
  • Or are you simply ‘just not feeling yourself’?

BUT …

  • You KNOW that you have more to give
  • That you are CAPABLE of more
  • That you want more for YOURSELF and your life;
  • And that you want to make the next years, your BEST YEARS

BUT … you just don’t know how? Then Midlife Slice has been created especially for you.

Welcome to the messy middle. A place of transformation for those who choose to invest in themselves and design a future more aligned to who they are now and who they want to be in the future.

Why do we sit in a circle?

A circular seating arrangement creates a sense of belonging. A welcoming space in which people feel more comfortable flexing their curiosity, sharing their ideas and open to finding creative solutions. It provides a learning environment rich in compassion and self-discovery; one where people choose to take actions to support their goals in the knowledge that they also have the support of the circle. The overall impact of which has a positive effect on personal growth, emotions, and well- being.

How much time commitment does a workshop/retreat require?

In most cases, the only time commitment is that of the event itself. Some retreats may give you the option to do some preparatory work, for example, a vision board workshop may suggest collecting magazines to inspire you at the retreat.

All workshops/retreats invite you to go inwards, reflect, imagine and contemplate and, as a result, after the event you may find yourself wanting to do further self-discovery work, or perhaps making journaling a daily ritual or taking action on the commitments you made to yourself whilst at the workshop/retreat.

How do I know if A workshop/retreat is for me?

We hope that the workshop/retreat descriptions provide you with a good idea of what to expect from the workshop/retreat and outline who they have been designed for. However, if you are still unsure, please email any questions you may have to [email protected]

How many people will be on the workshop/retreat with me?

Our workshops and retreats are designed so that each participant feels welcome and has a quality experience. We also want each person to participate in all the activities, contribute fully and leave feeling happy, and fulfilled.

As such, each workshop and retreat can accommodate six people. Where more spaces are available, we will highlight this in the specific event’s information.

Do I need to bring anything with me oR WEAR ANYTHING IN PARTICULAR?

In most cases you will not need to bring anything to your workshop/retreat as everything is usually provided. If there is a need for you to bring anything along, such as a blanket or yoga mat, this will be highlighted in the details of the workshop/retreat.

It is recommended that you wear comfortable clothes, as some of the time will be spent sitting on bean bags or meditation cushions.

What is a Midlife Transition Coach?

In our lifetime we all encounter many challenges which vary in size and impact. We call these life disruptors and lifequakes, many of which can occur in our 40s and 50s. Some are voluntary (E.g. Changing jobs, choosing to leave a marriage, moving abroad), others we think we are prepared for, but often are not (E.g. the loss of an elderly relative, children leaving home, a promotion), and others simply blindside us (E.g. Losing someone close unexpectedly, our spouse leaving us, a poor health diagnosis). Each can change the course of our lives, by a little or a lot, and how we navigate these transitions is up to us.

One way to learn how to successfully navigate your life’s transitions and disruptors is to seek the support of a transition coach.

A Midlife Transition Coach will help those in their 40s, 50s and 60s equip themselves with the essential tools and mindset required to turn unease and upheaval into growth and renewal, and navigate midlife transitions with meaning, purpose, and skill.

What coaching qualifications do you have?

I am a qualified Life Coach with over 10 years of experience. I am Third Age Women Certified (a certification focused on menopause and wellbeing), a Practitioner of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), and have completed ‘Navigating Midlife Transitions’ with the Modern Elder Academy.

I have also experienced many major life transitions of my own – the place in which I learned most – including ending a significant relationship, being unexpectedly made redundant, leaving a great job to set up my own consultancy, going freelance after having been fulltime employed for 20 years, moving to several new cities, temporarily living abroad, supporting my ageing parents from afar, not knowing my ‘what’s next?’ and the shedding of old identities, to name but a few, as well as having helped my many clients through their own midlife transitions and disruptors.

Be Inspired

“I’m so grateful for Lynda for breaking down my barriers. I have a passion for dance but in my head I thought my dream for making it part of my life was over. Since she questioned my way of thinking, I found a way to set a goal and become a big part of the dance community in Bournemouth. I’ve successfully managed 5 dance inspired events, presented on the radio, and now I’m part of Business Come Dancing, the nearest to me being part of Strictly, which has always been my ultimate goal!”
Sarah

“Lynda has an ability to draw out potential and personality in others, untangling muddled minds and bringing clarity and focus for acceptance of the past a more fulfilled future.”
